Life with a pet can read like a memoir.  As silent witnesses to a distinct chapter of our lives, their bodies are holders of memories - a living, breathing safe deposit box preserving every beautiful, tragic, and ordinary moment that threads the texture of a life. They are the keepers of former versions of ourselves and the last connection to the people and things no longer in our lives. And when they’re gone, we lose much more than their physical presence. While nothing can bring “Before” back, writing has the power to create a tangible souvenir to take with you.

I believe “Every Pet Has a TAIL to Tell,” and I want to help you tell yours.

Writing has helped me navigate my journey through loss, and I’m passionate about making this gentle companion accessible to EVERYONE! This is why,  on my website, Hard Pet Days, I offer complimentary writing prompts and insights to guide you as you begin your writing journey.

While I understand that, like grief, writing is a deeply personal process, I also know it can stir up big emotions, and if you're  looking for extra support, for I offer one-on-one mentoring to guide your process.

Whether you’re new to writing, looking to deepen your practice, or just want to add support, structure, or accountability, my background as both a mental health clinician and writer informs the process. As I learn more about you, together we’ll find your unique voice and the writing style and approach that feels most comfortable for you. I can also help you pack an emotional first aid kit to decompress, ground, and recenter you as you work through the emotions that can accompany “Remembering.”

What will this look like?

That’s up to YOU! (Visualize custom-made shirt versus off-the-rack.)

This is YOUR process, and I am here to walk beside you in whatever capacity you find most helpful. Our work is meant to be collaborative, interactive, pivotable, and frankly kind of casual. Because no one’s process is the same, there's no course description or syllabus. Our work will take shape as we go.

Think…

  • One-time consult, as-needed check-ins, or ongoing writing support.

  • Incorporating writing prompts for inspiration, or free-flow.

  • Structure and accountability through writing assignments  – or not.

  • Personalized feedback and ideas to build and develop your TAIL.

  • Exploring the art and craft of writing, techniques and insights to help you grow as a writer.

And, if writing isn’t your thing, but you still have a “TAIL to Tell,” There is a great power and catharsis in “telling.” I am here to listen and craft your TAIL as you describe it to me, bringing your memories to life through the written word and leaving you with a special keepsake of your time together.

Possibilities are endless. Fill in your blank. Reach out to brainstorm - we'll figure it out together.
